Maelgwyn’ s General Manager Stephen Flatman gave a presentation on the Aachen reactors to the ALTA 17 conference in Perth. The presentation covered how the Aachen reactors have evolved since the original patent in 1987 and the numerous benefits to their installation both in terms of enhanced gold recovery for cyanide leaching. The presentation was well received with particular interest being shown in how the Aachen reactors are able to facilitate the natural progression from free milling oxide ore bodies into more refractory transition material which without the Aachen reactors tends to result in progressively lower recoveries and higher cyanide consumption as the ore becomes more refractory
